Ormos Panagias was named after a Byzantine Church of Panagia (Virgin Mary). This small village is one of the most picturesque areas of Halkidiki with a lovely port filled with fishing boats and yachts. Some tour boats leave from this village and go to the Holy Mountain and the island of Ammouliani.
There are numerous churches in the surrounding area: the church of the Assumption, the church of Panagouda and the church of Saint Vasileios are the loveliest. Religious festivals related to these churches have become an integral part of the village culture and they are celebrated with great joy by the locals. Few rooms to rent and taverns can be found along the port.
